Majestic, Tepid, Light

woman-with-a-parasol-monet

The dome of the spirit

The palace of the heart

Her sovereign realm is

Locked in the darkness

of the madness of loneliness,

casting the eternal spells

of sadness on the queen

unwanted, unseen, unheard,

betrayed by false courtesans,

courtiers, father, mother, all,

till the light of love casts over

the weeping queen’s head softly

with a gentle touch of the sun

in all sweetness evermore.

  1. Such a beautiful, evocative poem, and a fitting illustration by one of my favourite impressionists!💙
All strong women have tragic fates, don’t they? “Her sovereign realm is locked in the darkness…” – I love the imaginative power of your words, Stephanie!

    1. Yes, all women with beautiful passionate inward worlds find the truth of reality callous and cold in which they stumble into a paroxysm of dismay. And I want to share that moment of disorientation in words. And yes, it is one of my fav paintings of all!! Thanks Veronica 😘
